Subaru takes driver-assistance technology to the next level with its DriverFocus distraction mitigation system, which comes standard with selected 2025 Subaru Outback trims. Designed to help you stay alert behind the wheel, this high-tech system aims to reduce accidents and keep you, your loved ones, and other road users safe. Take a closer look at this cutting-edge Subaru safety feature.

In-Depth Exploration of the DriverFocus System

The 2025 Subaru Outback DriverFocus system has an infrared camera that constantly monitors the position of your head and eyes. If it notices signs of driver fatigue or distraction, such as head nodding or eyes moving away from the road, the system will alert you and your passengers.

The DriverFocus system also uses facial recognition to configure the car to each driver's preferred settings. When it scans your face, it will set your memory power seat and mirrors to your preferred position. DriverFocus remembers the settings of up to five different drivers. You can modify your settings using the Outback's infotainment touch screen.

Other Safety and Security Features in the 2025 Subaru Outback

While DriverFocus distraction mitigation is one of the 2025 Subaru Outback's most advanced tech features, it's not the only way Subaru keeps you and your passengers safe. All 2025 Outback trims have Subaru's EyeSight driver-assist technology as standard, but its features vary between different trim levels. Here are some of the safety and security features that can be part of the EyeSight system.

Rear Cross-Traffic Alert

Rear cross-traffic alert uses sensors to monitor traffic behind your vehicle when you're reversing. If a vehicle approaches your Outback from the left or right side, the system alerts you to the hazard so you can wait for the other motorist to pass safely. Rear cross-traffic alert helps you safely reverse out of parking spaces, driveways, and garages. It's available for all but the Outback Base trim. It's optional on the Premium and standard at all other trim levels.

Blind-Spot Detection

Blind-spot detection is available with all but the Base trim. It's optional with the Premium trim and standard with higher trim levels. This feature activates when you signal you're intending to change lanes. If it detects a vehicle in your blind spot, it'll alert you of the impending danger. Blind-spot detection lets you change lanes more safely and confidently. It's available with all but the Base trim. Subaru makes it optional on the Premium and standard with higher trim levels.

Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control

Subaru builds on the benefits of cruise control with its advanced adaptive cruise control system, which is standard with all 2025 Subaru Outback trims. As with other cruise control systems, you can set your preferred speed and feel confident you're maintaining it. However, this system also monitors the traffic in front and safely slows you down when required to keep a safe distance. Subaru's system also includes a lane centering feature which helps prevent you from drifting.

Comparative Analysis of the DriverFocus System Across Different Trim Levels

The DriverFocus system is identical for all Outback trims with this feature. This distraction mitigation system is standard with the 2025 Subaru Outback Limited, 2025 Subaru Outback Touring, 2025 Subaru Outback Limited XT, and 2025 Subaru Outback Touring XT trims. It's not available with the 2025 Subaru Outback Base, 2025 Subaru Outback Premium, 2025 Subaru Outback Onyx Edition, 2025 Subaru Outback Onyx Edition XT, or 2025 Subaru Outback Wilderness trims.

Comparing the Limited, Touring, Limited XT, and Touring XT Trims

If you want a 2025 Subaru Outback with DriverFocus, you can opt for the Limited, Touring, Limited XT, or Touring XT trim. Each vehicle has its own Outback safety features and other advantages, but familiarizing yourself with the different options can help you select the right trim for your needs.

Limited

The Limited is a luxury option with leather-trimmed upholstery rather than cloth or synthetic StarTex. It has heated seats throughout and power-adjustable seats up front. The Limited's Subaru STARLINK system also has a large 11.6-inch display and built-in GPS navigation, along with features seen in the Premium and Onyx Edition such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Touring

Subaru turns up the opulence and safety features for the Outback's Touring trim. Buttery soft nappa leather-trimmed seats and ventilated front seats help you stay cool and comfortable on your journeys. The 180-degree front-view monitor improves visibility when you're driving forward. It also has a smart auto-dimming rearview compass mirror which detects and reduces glare from headlights behind you for safer nighttime driving. This mirror is also equipped with HomeLink, so you can use it to remotely activate your garage door, electric gates, and lights when you return home.

Limited XT

If you love the Limited's features but want more power under the hood, choose the Limited XT. Instead of the standard 182-hp 2.5-liter engine, it's powered by a gutsy 260-hp turbocharged 2.4-liter motor. Upgrading the motor increases the maximum towing capacity from 2,700 pounds to 3,500 pounds.

Touring XT

The Touring XT has all the features of the standard Touring trim with the same turbocharged motor as the Limited XT. Like the Limited XT, it also has a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.
